Child Sponsorship and Support
Approximately 23 million people are currently enslaved in India, Nepal, and Bhutan. Most are children forced into bonded (debt) slavery, with more than 10,000 girls and women sold into sex trafficking in Nepal alone. Over the last five years, the poverty rate has hovered around 80% in South Asia.
At Compelled, we work to break the cycle of poverty by providing housing and schooling for orphaned children, as well as educational resources for communities in need.
Children’s Homes
In partnership with the Indian Evangelical Team (IET), Compelled operates safe spaces to care for orphans, children at risk, and young ones abandoned by their families. Compelled also works diligently to secure alternative forms of housing for orphaned children–whether that be with extended family members or IET missionaries.
Educate a Child
In most regions of South Asia, school supplies, such as a uniforms and books, are required for admission and regular attendance. Compelled seeks to remove financial barriers for low-income children who would not otherwise be able to attend school without assistance.
Children’s Clubs
Compelled sends trained missionaries to form clubs for children living in urban slums. Each week, a group of 60-200 children attend–learning songs and engaging in social activities. As trusting relationships form, club leaders are able to motivate the children to go to school, while also working with their families to provide a safe, encouraging environment.
