CHILD SPONSORSHIP AND SUPPORT
From Sorrow to Smile
Jesus said to His disciples, “Let the children come to me …because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
– Mark 10:14 –
It is estimated that 45 million people live in modern forms of slavery – half of these living in the regions in which Compelled works. Most of these are children in bonded (debt) slavery. It is estimated that in Nepal alone more than 10,000 girls and women are sold into sexual trafficking. Most of them are lured by false promises, trying to escape deep poverty.
We desire to see children receive the education necessary to break the cycle of poverty and realize their God-given potential. Compelled works with parents to raise awareness of educational opportunity, provide tutoring and cover the cost of school fees and supplies. Compelled also sends trained missionaries to form clubs for children in slums. A group of 60-200 children attend each club and learn songs, engage in friendly activities, and also hear the Gospel.
Eventually, as trust is built, we are able to motivate them to go to school and work with their families to provide a safe environment. Establishing these relationships opens doors to share the message of Jesus Christ.
