COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT

“This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations.”

– Matthew 24:14 –

Compelled seeks to empower people on an individual and communal level. To this end, we have several initiatives that target the “least of these” across India, Bhutan, and Nepal.

Village Outreach Festivals are held over the course of 3-5 days in unreached villages.  The Gospel is explained in a tribe’s native language, in a culturally relevant and intelligent way. Anywhere from 100-300 people attend such festivals – which include music, dramas, story telling and teachings.

About half of the world’s illiterate adults live in South Asia, most of them are women. Compelled’s trained missionaries conduct literacy classes in tribes and remote villages to help adults learn how to read, write and count. Ultimately, as trust is formed and sacrificial love of the missionaries is seen, the villagers begin to enquire about spiritual questions. This always leads to planting churches.

Widows are a specific population that IET holds especially close to our hearts. They are often shunned from community and at times even discarded by their family. Compelled provides basic food and clothes to widows, to let them live a life of dignity and self worth. In many cases, where possible, they are also empowered to engage in economic activity. Our genuine care also opens doors for us to share the message of Christ’s love – His love that redeems us from our past.

Compelled works to empower, educate, and support communities through the abundant love of Jesus. You can support our efforts specifically in one of the following ways:

Provide food for a widow: $10 / monthly

Send a literacy worker to a village: $20 / monthly

Sponsor a Village Outreach Festival: $100
